E111 - יהוה צבאות in Psalm 84
YHWH Sabaoth is featured prominently in Psalm 84, but its warrior image doesn’t seem to fit the overall tone of the Psalm. What’s going on here? In this week’s episode, we venture an alternative take on this and other images from Psalm 84. We invite your comments and feedback as we do! What do you make of this wonderful Psalm?

Psalm 1
JOT (Josh from Oregon Translation)
- Happy is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
and does not stand in the way of sinners
and does not sit in the gathering place of scoffers. - But he delights in Yahweh’s instruction
and on his instruction he meditates day and night. - He is like a tree planted beside streams of water
that gives its fruit in its season
and its leaf does not wither
and all that he does prospers. - Not so the wicked.
For they are like chaff that the wind blows. - Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. - For Yahweh considers the way of the righteous
but the way of the wicked will die off.
