On The Phone With Josh

A Pentecostal and a Baptist walk into a seminary... the punchline? A podcast that bridges academic theology and everyday faith. Meet Josh and Josh, your hosts for a podcast that’s all about connecting the dots between theology and real life. Josh from Missouri has twenty years of pastoral experience, trains church leaders through AssociateLeadership.com, and teaches practical theology at Evangel University. Josh from Oregon is a biblical languages enthusiast who’s on his church’s sermon prep team and serves faithfully in his church. Both have their MDivs, a love for deep conversations, and a passion for making theology something you can actually use in your faith journey. When the Bible refers to “the Word of God” is it referring simply to the Bible itself or not? If the Word of God can be understood to be more than the Bible, then what does that mean for our understanding of the Bible itself? And can we get “orthorelationality” to catch on as a new term? Come join the conversation and let us know what you think!

The word Christian is a little loaded in our society. What do we mean by the word? Does it really strike at the heart of what we want to convey? If not, is there a better word or term to use? How might that do a better job of describing what this whole thing is all about? We’d love to have you join us for this conversation and then chime in on social media to let us know what you think about the word Christian.

Genesis 1-11 is a unique and often strange section of the Bible. To what genre does it belong? How should we make sense of the long lifespans or the weird god-like beings? How might genealogies help us to make sense of it all? Come join the conversation as we explore this confusion section of scripture.

Josh and Josh(ua)

Let us begin by saying that we have very few pictures of us together since most of our friendship after college has been on opposite sides of the country. We couldn't be more proud that this is one of the few that we have.

So what do you do when you live on opposite coasts? You talk - a lot. For 20 years we've been talking life, history, theology, Christian living, marriage, and parenting. At the heart of it, we believe friendship is a vehicle for soul formation. So we take it all seriously even if we don't always take ourselves so seriously. Check out Episode 0 for a brief introduction to us and to our show.

Our podcast is an invitation for you to join the conversation. Every week we'll delve into a new topic and then open the floor for listeners to join the conversation on social media. www.facebook.com/onthephonewithjosh // www.instagram.com/onthephonewithjosh // www.twitter.com/joshes_t
